It is ironic that it took a British man and not a local to discover this property in the Mas de la Serra corner of Spain. But you have to take your hat off to someone who searched high and low in the mountains of Maestrazgo in Teruel, to fulfil a dream; and what a beautiful dream it is. You can only truly comprehend this property by visiting the lounge housed in the turret of this old stronghold, which still bears elements of its previous calling, and observing the untouched surrounds stretching out into the distance. There are no paths, houses or firebreaks in sight. No wonder the mountain goats roam among the almond trees at first light and then, as the sun goes down, meander over to quench their thirst at the spring, from which the swimming pool also draws it water. This small charming hotel, is undeniably a dream come true. The hotel has five lounges and just eight bedrooms. Breakfast and dinner are served wherever you feel most comfortable: by the warmth of the fire or whilst enjoying the breeze on the terrace. Touches of Great Britain appear in the form of period military paintings and strangely enough, a toilet bowl once used by Margaret Thatcher.
