Leiro is but a small dot on the maps of Galicia's varied countryside. However, this dot has now taken on a greater importance on the tourist routes due to the opening of a new hotel there. The hotel, recently awarded with a medal for being the first monument-hotel in Galicia, is housed in the ancient Monastery of San Clodio, which has been declared a National Monument.
