The “Palacio da Lousa”, formerly known as “Palacio da Viscondessa do Espinhal (XVIII)”, is the first Melia Boutique Hotel in Portugal. It is located in the city centre and is classified as historical heritage, which once hosted the Duke of Wellington after the victorious battle of “Foz de Arouce” in 1811. Nowadays it combines a warm atmosphere with all comforts and technologies of a modern hotel. The hotel offers 46 rooms. The interior combines the historic ambiance with modern amenities. All rooms provide a private bathroom, toilet and hair-dryer as well as safe, mini bar, satellite TV, telephone, broadband internet access and a lot more. On request, we offer non-smoking roms and rooms for disabled people. The magnificent, air-conditioned conference rooms offer regal surroundings for successful events. They can accommodate up to 300 people and are modular that means they are constructed with standardized units for flexibility and variety in use. GUESTHOUSEThe Quintal de Além do Ribeiro has five double rooms and four suites. The rooms are decorated according to themes, evoking traditional activities of the Beira region, such as the dressmaker, carpenter, musician, blacksmith, shoemaker and hunter. The Romantic room, in the main house, is the noblest of them all. The others have a more rustic decor. The Hiding Place room evokes past times when the local population had to resort to hiding its possessions as well as themselves from the French invaders.The house also has a well equipped piano-bar, with living room. Breakfast is served in a large breakfast room from nine o’clock to ten thirty. Guests can also request for breakfast to be served in their rooms. Other meals can be catered for, upon request.
