WELCOME  Midgard Country Estate is located 85 km north-east of Windhoek, and only 70 km from Hosea Kutako International Airport, in the unspoilt Otjihavero Mountains. Carl List, the founder of the Namibian Corporation, Ohlthaver & List, acquired Midgard Country Estate in 1937. Our guests are invited to enjoy the tranquility of the property while marvelling at the pioneering German Settler spirit which gave birth to it all. "Midgard", a word found in Old Norse, Middle English and High German languages, has varying meanings, but is popularly thought to mean "A paradise where the earth rises again, fertile and green, creating a protected world and a safe empire for the people". ACTIVITIES AND ATTRACTIONS Guests can soak up the ambience and enjoy doing absolutely nothing or explore hiking and mountain trails, drive along 4x4 tracks, play volleyball, tennis, table tennis or outdoor chess, stargaze and view our vintage automobile collection. One of the estate's major attractions is a sundowner drive to Hilltop, where guests can enjoy a stunning 360° view over the Otjihavero Mountains and watch the sun set with sundowners in hand. A warm Namibian welcome awaits guests at this intimate one hundred and six room lodge, with its extensive facilities including the Tambuti Dining Room & Marula Bar, the Pool Bar & Terrace, open air African Boma, spa, two swimming pools, separate children's splash pool, two floodlit tennis courts, the Pool & Billiard Room, gym, reptile park, walking trails, private airstrip and professionally guided game viewing safaris into Etosha. When guests eventually make their way along winding pathways back to their rooms, they frequently encounter our resident herd of placid bontebok and the next morning, our squirrels who insist on sharing their breakfast. ACTIVITIES AND ATTRACTIONS Guests can make the most of the landscaped gardens relaxing in the shade under the trees or at the pool or visit the exciting reptile park, play a game of tennis, explore the reserve by following one of the marked walking trails, be pampered in the spa or workout at the gym. For the slightly more adventurous, there is the option of accompanying one of Mokuti's experienced game guides in an open safari vehicle into Etosha National Park. With its vast number of wildlife species, guests will be sighting and photographing until the sun sets. WINING AND DINING Tambuti Dining Room, offering country-style comfort, "home" cuisine with a Namibian touch during breakfas, lunch (dependant on occupancy) and dinner.
