With beautiful views over the Beaulieu River and set at the end of the grassy street that is Buckler’s Hard village, it is difficult to imagine a more picturesque setting for a hotel on the whole south coast of England. What’s more, The Master Builder’s is located on Lord Montagu's Beaulieu Estate in the New Forest National Park and just a few minutes' drive from Beaulieu Palace House and the National Motor Museum. Many fine old naval ships were built at Buckler’s Hard. In fact you can still see the old grassy ‘slips’ just below the hotel. We think it appropriate to celebrate the work of Mr Henry Adams (the shipbuilder and former resident of the hotel building) by naming our rooms after some of his work.We do Chic and Luxury Rooms in the main house, beautifully and individually created by the well-known interior designer Christine Boswell, and we do Classic Rooms in the Henry Adams wing, (which cost less). The rooms in the Henry Adams wing are slightly more modern than those in the main building and unfortunately don’t share the views of the river. However, the rooms have their own charm, with bright, hand-carved headboards, chic blinds and wallpapers, and Egyptian cotton bedding on superb beds.We are also dog-friendly and have up to nine rooms available in the Henry Adams wing for those who want to bring their pet with them.So we started with a ship’s name, let our imagination go a little bit crazy, took this mix to Rajasthan where our craftsmen turned the concept into wonderfully theatrical, comfortable and beautifully bespoke furnishings.
