Hotel Borgarvirki is a friendly and spacious country hotel in north west Iceland located 230 km from Reykjavik, mid way to Akureyri. The hotel is 20 km from the ring road between the towns Hvammstangi and Blönduós. We are a true country hotel, with 15 rooms, 8 of them with en-suite bathroom. The hotel is a member of the Icelandic Travel Industry Association (SAF). The hotel is ideal for individuals, groups, conferences and incentive travel. At Borgarvirki you will find conference facilities for up to 100 persons. The hotel is comfortable, and here we serve gourmet dinner every evening, using the best available ingreadients from the local lakes. We also specialise in grilled lamb and lobster soup. The surroundings are rural and beautiful with mountain, ocean and 3 large lakes very close by, and endless possibilities of enjoying nature. Icelands biggest seal habitant is very close to the hotel, which draws many curious traveller to the area. The famous rock formations "Hvítserkur" give the area a special attraction for travellers. The peninsula Vatnsnes and Vesturhóp is one of Icelands "hidden places" and is also a paradise for birds and thereby birdwatchers. The name Borgarvirki stems from historic ruins close by, a fort build by nature on a hilltop with ancient ruins, there are stories of it being used from the Viking era and is a very special place to visit.
