La Fornace di San Galgano is a country house located 25 km south-west of Siena on a panoramic position, near San Galgano (10km), Monticiano (12km) and Chiusdino (15km).It is an ancient brick kiln where clay was used in order to produce the famous tuscan “cotto” (terracotta) which was used for buildings (bricks), pavements (terracotta tiles) and decorations. In fact for its reconstruction were used its own firebricks and tiles that were found in the soil which makes it a unique sample of its kind preserving an important historical heritage. The house is divided in 6 apartments where each apartment has is own kitchen nook, bathroom and external private patio. They are fully furnished including bed linen, kitchen ware and dishes, heating and fireplace. All the apartments whose size varies from 40 to 70 s. m. are made of ancient stone walls and maintain the original ceiling beams, they are fully furnished including bed linen, kitchen ware and dishes, heating and fireplace.
