Art and Design as a tribute to the first Nobel Peace Prize: Jean Henry Dunant "Normally, the genius does not rise as peaceful ruler; he does not open a path except through thousands of obstacles; it is long unknown, violently attacked and often denied by a whole half of its century." (Frank Liszt) JHD Dunant Hotel is a tribute to Jean Henri Dunant, founder of the Red Cross, the volounteer organization conceived in Castiglione delle Stiviere, which supports the values of peace, unity among peoples and universality. In fact, it was exactly in Castiglione delle Stiviere that the swiss idealist stayed after the Battle of Solferino (24thjune1859) joining the "women of Castiglione" and those who provided help to the large number of the wounded, and ideally founding what became the most important and best known humanitarian organization in the world. A part from the headquarters of the International Museum of the Red Cross, an accomadation inspired to the extraordinary figure of the philanthropist was born. A sort of “spatial portrait” split over 3 floors and 78 rooms. A Hotel-Musem that wants to be the voice of "The continuity of his great thought", Dunant's love message for the world.
