Cascades on 52 is a ultramodern lodge overlooking the Atlantic Ocean in Cape Town’s most exclusive neighborhood of Bantry Bay. The lodge sits perched on the slopes of Signal Hill tucked in right under the massive outcrop of Lion’s Head, which casts a protective shield over the bay, provides complete shelter from the infamous South Easter winds that so often ravage through the Cape. The brief to the architect was to create a building that should capture as much light as possible and that is exactly what a visitor encounters when he steps through the front door. He feels overwhelmed with the feeling of space and light. The main reception area is a double storey volume leading to the large open guest lounge. At this point, the visitor will be irresistibly drawn towards the large wall-to-wall windows leading to the terrace, where he will stand still… in awe with the most spectacular view over the Atlantic Ocean. The seven rooms are different in size but equal in their furnishings and equipment. Off-white walls, cherry wood for the doors and cupboards in combination with black floor covering result in well-balanced, modern rooms that do not feel cold and empty but instead are cozy and easy on the senses. This is a five star property, rated by the Grading Council of South Africa… so… all the mod cons required in a five star hotel room are present. WiFi, Flat screen TV’s, mini bar, safe, air conditioning… those are all standards and in addition we have provided all the rooms with their own Apple Mac computer with free internet access, a Nespresso machine, i-pod dock and CD player. Shuttle service (airport and other) available in Hotel Minivan (Mercedes Vito). We can communicate with our guests in English, German, Dutch, Afrikaans, French, Russian and Portuguese.
