Built in 1873, Belmond Grand Hotel Timeo is a magnificent baroque residence transformed into one of Italy's favorite resort hotels. Ideally located across from the Greek Theatre, the hotels hillside location features incomparable panoramic views of the Bay of Naxos and snow-capped Mount Etna, Europe's largest active volcano. The hotel is situated in a 20,000 square meter park, abundant with magnolia, cypress, olive and palm trees, and is also home to the famous literary terrace, a meeting point for many great personalities. Belmond Grand Hotel Timeo is a short walk from all of the sights for which Taormina is famous. A shuttle bus provides guests with access to a private beach a short drive from the hotel. Belmond Grand Hotel Timeo is located 60 kilometers north of Catania Fontanarossa Airport, about 50 minutes by car. Guests have access to neaby tennis as well as a private beach located at sister hotel Belmond Villa Sant Andrea, complete with a wide selection of water sports and relaxation facilities. Complimentary shuttle service is available to and from the beach. Named after the son of Andromaca, founder of Taormina, the hotel has served many famous guests including Oscar Wilde, D.H. Lawrence, Christian Dior, Guglielmo Marconi and Kaiser Wilhelm II. Accommodations at Belmond Grand Hotel Timeo include 42 rooms and 28 suites, each impeccably appointed. Some rooms are located in the main building while others are located 50 meters away in the Villa Flora annex. All rooms feature both network and wireless high-speed Internet access as well as all of the amenities you would expect in one of Italy's grand hotels. Most rooms have a private terrace or balcony, many of them offering spectacular sea views. All guestrooms underwent a complete renovation in 2010.
